In three days, my first season of training in the previously “uncharted waters” of cold water swimming will be put to the test! I am excited to be heading to Vermont to participate in the Memphremagog Winter Swimming Festival, where I will participate in 6 races: 25m Breast Stroke, 25m Freestyle, 25m Butterfly, 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, and 200m Freestyle…all in an outdoor pool cut out of ice!
Any athlete knows that to improve, you have to continually step outside of your comfort zone. I have trained meticulously these past several months, with my Health and Safety Supervisor Amy Bass carefully monitoring the water temperature, distance covered in what time, and my body responses during and post-swim. I am excited to see what I have learned be put to use in this competitive environment. Stay tuned for the results!
